Grassroutes is a major part of our Social Enterprise "Comhlacht Forbartha An Tearmainn". Grassroutes is a bicycle hire enterprise operating from the stunning "Glenveagh National Park". Until now Grassroutes has only operated on a seasonal basis with the bicycles in storage for 6 months of the year. The aim of our social enterprise project is to bring an educational extension to our bike rental business thus generating a year round income from our fleet of bicycles. We aim to bring education to schools around safe cycling practices. We have piloted the programme with adults participating in a programme with the HSE and it has been very successful. It is a 6 week programme which takes children from preparing to cycle to on road training thus giving children an alternative method of getting to school which will hopefully lead to reducing our carbon emmissions and reducing cycling accidents.
